Best time to visit Hayman Island

Anytime. Hayman Island enjoys a tropical climate with hot summers, warm winters and a pleasant spring and autumn.

Summer, from December to February, sees an average high of 30°C (86°F) and an average low of 24°C (75°F), while winter, from June through August, averages a high of 23°C (73°F) and a low of 18°C (64°F).

Getting to Hayman

Hayman Island is located in the Whitsunday Islands around 1100km north of Brisbane and around 600km south of Cairns.

The closest airport is located on nearby Hamilton Island. Cruising time from Hamilton Island to Hayman is 45 minutes. The resort can organise transport options by prior arrangement.

The most convenient route to Hayman Island is by air to Hamilton Island Airport (HTI), also known as Great Barrier Reef Airport.

There are no direct international flights to Hamilton Island Airport or nearby Proserpine Airport.

Within Australia, Jetstar Airways and Virgin Australia Airlines offer direct flights to Hamilton Island Airport (HTI) from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne; Qantas Airways flies direct from Cairns.

From international destinations this requires first flying into Brisbane Airport (BNE) – or Cairns, Melbourne or Sydney – followed by a connecting flight to Hamilton Island Airport.
