Paphos Honeymoon Guide

What to do and see in Paphos


Unwind on a choice of sandy beaches set in front of the waterfront hotels or head to Coral Bay, a golden-sand beach located around 13km north of Paphos, which is easily accessible by bus. Facilities include a variety of watersports from pedalos to windsurfers and parasailing.

Nearby lie some of the finest Greek relics and Roman mosaics anywhere in the world as well as stunning natural attractions, including the Tomb of the Kings, Paphos Forest, the Akamas Peninsula and the Troodos Mountains. Paphos is located on the west coast of Cyprus.

Check out the white-knuckle waterslides, wave pools and fast rivers at the Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark, which boasts one of the biggest family rafting rides in Europe.

Admire ruins that date back to the 12th century BC, including the impressive mosaics of Nea Paphos, the splendid rock-cut Tombs of the Kings and the Archaeological Museum, which reveals centuries of intriguing history.

Take a jeep safari or hike a trail through lush forest in the Troodos Mountains, located just an hour’s drive northeast of Paphos.

In winter and early spring from November to March much of the area is blanketed in snow, perfect for downhill skiing and cross-country runs from the Troodos Ski Centre - the most southerly in Europe.

Further north of Paphos sits the Akamas peninsula, another great spot for summer hikes.

Pachyammos Beach

This narrow sandy beach is sits in front of the hotels on Poseidonos Avenue.

Facilities include lifeguards, watersports, sun beds and umbrellas with a wide range of bars, restaurants and telephones nearby.

The quality of the water is tested frequently and the beachfront is cleaned everyday.

Coral Bay Beach

Relax on the golden sands of this popular beach, located around 13km north of Paphos. The beach is easily accessible by bus.

Facilities include a variety of watersports from pedalos to windsurfers and parasailing.

Latchi Beach

Although covered in pebbles, Latchi Beach offers the best conditions in the region for diving or snorkelling.

The nearby laid back Cypriot village of Latchi provides some of the best fish tavernas in Cyprus.

Lara Bay Beach

Pick your own secluded spot on this quiet and unspoilt beach, located just north of Paphos.

The beach is the site where endangered green and loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs. You may also be able lucky enough to see endangered monk seals here.

Petra tou Romiou Beach

Long considered to be the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, Greek Goddess of Love, and ancient patron goddess of Cyprus, Petra tou Romiou Beach offers stunning sunsets from a rocky coastline.

It's also a great spot for a swim and a picnic. Located along the road from Lemesos to Pafos.

Geriskopou Beach

This popular pebble and sand beach is just a couple of kilometres from the harbour at Paphos.

Facilities include nearby accommodation options, beachside restaurant, volleyball court and various water sports as well as sun bed and umbrella hire. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer season.

Best time to visit in Paphos

The best time to visit Paphos for a beach holiday is from early-June through to late-September, when you can expect hot, sunny weather with clear blue skies and little or no rainfall.

To explore the nearby Greco-Roman ruins and Byzantine monasteries, or hike trails through forest in the Troodos Mountains, the best time is spring and early summer, from mid-April to late-June, and during autumn, from late-September to late-October, thereby avoiding the intense summer heat and high season crowds.

Getting there

Paphos, sometimes spelled Pafos, is located on the southwest coast of Cyprus, about 50km (31mi) west of Limassol.

The most convenient route to Paphos is by air into Paphos International Airport (PFO), located about 16km (10mi) southeast of the city, near Timi.

Alternatively, fly into Larnaca International Airport – Glafcos Clerides (LCA), located about 4km (2.5mi) southwest of Larnaca on the southeast coast, and around 132km (82mi) from Paphos. An intercity express bus takes around 2 hours, with a change of bus in Limassol.
