Limassol Honeymoon Guide

With its choice of resort hotels, sweeping sea views, charming old town and energetic nightlife, Limassol is one of Cyprus's liveliest cities and a popular honeymoon destination.

Unwind on a choice of golden sand beaches, wander the charming streets of the old town or along the palm-fringed seaside promenade flanked by streets crammed with trendy cafés, bars, nightclubs and shops selling everything from souvenirs to the latest fashions.

Best Beaches in Limassol

Most of Limassol town beaches are a mix of dark sand and pebbles.

The best beaches lie up to 3km from the town, including Ladies Beach, Curium Beach and Pissouri Beach. Most offer a choice of watersports from pedalos to jet-skis.

Pissouri Beach

Sunbathe on the golden sands of this pristine beach and swim or snorkel in the clear, warm waters. Pissouri's beachside restaurants are renown for great seafood.

Lady's Mile Beach

Pick a secluded spot on this 8km-long beach that gently shelves into shallow, clear water. The beach is located a few kilometres from Limassol and is mostly deserted.

Kourion Beach

Although a stony beach, Kourion is popular for windsurfing and hang gliding from the nearby cliff top.

The long and curving beach has splendid backdrop as the dramatic ruins of Kourion are perched on the top of the cliff overlooking the beach.

What to do and see in Limassol

Stroll along the seaside promenade into Limassol's old town with its centuries-old architecture, a medieval fort, an archaeological museum, the folk museum and a natural sea sponge exhibition.

Get wet in the slides and pools of Wet 'n' Wild and Fasouri waterparks or discover the history of Cyprus on the Time Elevator in Limassol's old harbour.

Further afield, just 18km west of Limassol, sits Kourion, one of Cyprus's most impressive archaeological sites (photo). The site dates from the 12th century BC and offers an insight into ancient times with its amphitheatre, ruined Roman houses and mosaics.

Wander the ruins, take in the magnificent sea views and watch a concert in the ancient arena on a balmy summer's evening for a hard-to-beat experience.
