Holiday weather guide

Whether you're daydreaming or already planning your next holiday getaway, making sure you arrive at the right time of year can make all the difference between a great holiday or a disappointingly wet one.

To help you plan ahead we provide an instant snap-shot of monthly weather conditions at many of the world's top holiday destinations.

Our goal is to provide easy-to-understand, accurate, and reliable weather information to assist holidaymakers, honeymoon couples and adventure seekers prepare and plan for an overseas adventure.

The weather information we provide is sourced from original historical climate data collated by national weather services at individual weather stations in each of the destinations listed, and represents local weather conditions averaged over a 10 to 30-year period.

While both national and commercial weather agencies typically give weather forecasts, observations and outlooks for up to 14 days, historical weather information provides a more accurate picture of weather conditions at a future date – weather conditions that you can expect during your planned holiday. This is especially true given the climate changes we presently experience worldwide.

And while historical weather averages from official national weather services are often freely available online, they can often be time-consuming to access; instead, we do that research for you.

Here, you can easily check out the average monthly temperatures, humidity, hours of sunshine and possible rainfall at each of these popular destinations to discover which has the best weather in any given month to suit your holiday needs.

Whether you already know where you want to go or not, our holiday weather guide can help you to locate the best holiday destinations in 2024/2025 with perfect weather at a time of year that suits you.

Best time to visit…

Making sure you arrive at the right time of year is crucial for enjoying a great honeymoon holiday.

Our weather guide indicates the best time to visit each honeymoon destination at a time when the skies are generally clear and sunny, the temperature is warm to hot (rather than scorching) and the chance of rain is minimal or not at all.

And while the skies are not always blue in the tropics, rainfall typically occurs during the late afternoon leaving the rest of the day sunny with clear skies.

If you are planning a long haul trip, just remember that seasons reverse between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres: i.e. winter in Europe is summer in Australia and the South Pacific, and vice versa; mid-winter in Australia is July and August – the peak summer holiday in Europe!

Northern Hemisphere

The Northern Hemisphere contains all of Europe, North America, Central America and the Caribbean as well as around two thirds of Africa, a small slice of South America and the majority of Asia, excluding Indonesia.

Tropical regions in the Northern Hemisphere are typically hot all year and experience a rainy season during the summer months and a cooler dry season in the winter months. Temperate regions, such as Europe, experience four distinct seasons annually.

Southern Hemisphere

The Southern Hemisphere lies south of the equator and contains Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific islands, South America, the southern half of Africa and most of Indonesia.

Due to the earth’s rotation relative to the sun, summer lasts from December to March and winter from June to September; vice versa in the Northern Hemisphere.

Typically in the Southern Hemisphere, summer (December to March) is hot, wet and humid, while winter (June to September) is warm, dry and sunny with mainly clear skies.

Beach-loving couples wondering when and where to go for their honeymoon have a wide choice of fabulous honeymoon destinations around the world.
