How to get to St Tropez

Saint-Tropez, known locally as St-Trop, is located on the French Riviera, 100km (62mi) west of Nice in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France.

The most convenient route to St Tropez is by air to Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE), located around 108km from St Tropez, followed by taxi or hire car, taking a further 1 hour 20 minutes.

Public transport from the airport via Fréjus to Sainte-Maxime takes 1 hour 35 minutes; from Sainte-Maxime to St Tropez takes 15 minutes by ferry. By tram and train from the airport takes around 2 hours 10 minutes.

During the summer season a ferry service operates between St-Tropez and Antibes, Nice, Sainte-Maxime, Cannes and Saint Raphael.

Flying in

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) is located 7km (4mi) southwest of Nice city centre. The airport is located on the western end of the Promenade des Anglais, and is the principal port of arrival for visitors to the Côte d'Azur.

Bus and train services are frequent between the airport and the Gare de Nice-Ville railway station (route 99) and Nice-Riquier railway station (route 98). The train station Nice-Saint-Augustin is near the airport (15 minutes by foot). Taxis are also available.


Entry requirements

A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay, a return/onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 90 days.


Getting around

Apart from walking around town and to the local beaches, public transport in Saint-Tropez includes mini buses, which provide a regular shuttle service between town and the beaches.

Other means of transport include scooters, cars, bicycles, taxis, helicopters and boats.

To travel further afield around the French Riviera, hiring a car is usually the best option. Alternatively, local buses and trains connect all the major cities and towns along the French Riviera.
