More laid-back and relaxed than bustling St Thomas, St Croix is the largest of the islands and offers a great range of outdoor pursuits as well as historic sights, good restaurants and shopping in the charming ports of Christiansted and Frederiksted.
Swim and snorkel at white-sand beaches, go scuba diving and hook up a kingfish or wahoo.
Take a guided bike tour along the western shore and go horseback riding through tropical rainforest in Christiansted.
Visit the Old Custom House, the wharf area and the historic Fort Christiansværn, which dates from 1774.
See marine animals at the Croix Aquarium or take a short boat ride over to nearby Buck Island where you can float above impressive marine gardens on a protected reef at one of the world’s most famous snorkelling sites.

The best time to visit St Croix is from January to April during the winter dry season, when temperatures average 25°C (77°F), with a high of 29°C (84°F) and a low of 23°C (73°F).

St Croix is located in the US Virgin Islands – 60 mainly uninhabited islands and cays – the largest and busiest are St Thomas, St Croix and St John.
St. Croix is the largest of the islands in the territory. However, the territory's capital, Charlotte Amalie, is located on Saint Thomas. The nearby British Virgin Islands are just a short plane and ferry ride away.
The most convenient route to St Croix is to fly into Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX), located about 10km (6mi) southwest of Christiansted, which lies on the northeast part of the island.
American Airlines offers the most frequent and most reliable service to St. Croix via San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami, Florida. You can also fly to St. Thomas and connect to St Croix on American Eagle or Seaborne Airlines.
By boat, fast ferries run between Christiansted on St Croix and Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas (75 minutes), with connections to St. John and the British Virgin Islands.
