V. C. Bird International Airport is the largest of Antigua and Barbuda's three airports and is the only one located on Antigua island.

Public transport

Shuttle: Hotels and resorts meet guests by prior arrangement.

Bus: Local buses operate along Sir George Walter Highway to and from St John's, but the stop is some distance from the terminal. As such, this mode of transport is not recommended for passengers with heavy bags.

Air: LIAT (tel: +1 268 480 5600; www.liatairline.com) operates flights between Antigua and other Caribbean islands. The ticket desk is located in the Arrivals Terminal.


Car rental

Car hire companies represented at V. C. Bird International Airport, include Avis, Dollar, Hertz, Alamo and Thrifty, as well as several local operators.

Money: A bank and ATM is available at V. C. Bird International Airport, 24 hours a day. There is a bureau de change in the terminal.

Food: A restaurant, café and two bars offer a range of drinks, snacks and meals.

Shopping: Shops at V. C. Bird International Airport offer a range of products including music, jewellery and souvenirs. There is also a duty-free.

Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi internet access is available at V.C. Bird International Airport in the departures lounge. A post office is located in the terminal building. Public telephones are also available.

A lift, ramps and wheelchairs are provided at V. C. Bird International Airport. Individual airlines can assist disabled passengers on request.

Passengers requiring wheelchairs and assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.


Entry requirements

All visitors require a passport that is valid for at least six months after entry as well as return/onward tickets, plus proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 30 days or 180 days for British nationals.
