The city is located on the Brisbane River, about 15km (9mi) from its mouth at Moreton Bay in southeast Queensland. Brisbane extends in all directions along the Brisbane River Valley between Moreton Bay and the Great Dividing Range.

Transfer between terminals

The Domestic and International Terminals sit 2km (1.2 miles) apart and are linked by the Airtrain that is free to Virgin Australia passengers and A$5 for others.

The complimentary Airport Transfer Bus also links the two terminals, as well as the Skygate (Airport Village).


Public transport

Taxi: There's a taxi rank on the terminal road outside the Domestic Terminal and another outside Arrivals (level 2) at the International Terminal.

Taxi fares to central Brisbane start at around AUD$30 and the journey time is generally 25-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Shuttle: Con-x-ion (tel: +61 1300 266 946; www.con-x-ion.com) shuttle buses are available from both terminals to specified stops in Brisbane with a journey time of around 30 minutes, and fare from A$16.

Con-x-ion also offers shuttles to the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

Rail: The Airtrain (tel: +61 7 3216 3308; www.airtrain.com.au) provides a frequent rail service to Brisbane Central Station, taking around 22 minutes with a fare of A$16; and to the Gold Coast, taking around 90 minutes with a fare from A$28.

Airtrain stations are located directly outside the Domestic and International Terminals.

Offices for these providers are located on level 2 of the International Terminal and the ground floor of the Domestic Terminal.


Terminal facilities

Money: The International Terminal provides a bureaux de change and ATMs on levels 2, 3 and 4, while the Domestic Terminal provides ATMs in all areas.

Food: There are numerous cafés, fast-food outlets and bars at Brisbane Airport. Options in the International Terminal include a pizza outlet, bakeries and a pub. In the Domestic Terminal, options include snack bars and cafés.

Shopping: A large choice of fashion and gift shops, as well as duty-free shopping options, is available on levels 3 and 4 of the International Terminal.

There is a newsagent and a surf clothing shop in the Domestic Terminal.

A free shuttle service connects to the nearby Skygate shopping precinct, which offers further retail options.

Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi internet access (for up to three hours) is available throughout Brisbane Airport. Additionally, internet kiosks can be found on levels 2, 3 and 4 of the International Terminal. Public payphones are situated at various points within both terminals.

Other: Other facilities at Brisbane Airport include a first-aid service, baby change rooms and a multifaith prayer room, all located in the International Terminal. Showers are available in both terminals.

Qantas Club lounges are located in both terminals and a Virgin Australia lounge can be found in the Domestic Terminal.


Disabled facilities

Facilities for disabled visitors include ramped and lift access to all floors, wheelchair-accessible toilets, and accessible shops and dining areas in the International Terminal.

Disabled car parking spaces and wheelchair set-down areas are available. Any passengers who may require additional assistance at the airport are advised to contact their airline before travelling.


Entry requirements

UK, USA and Canadian nationals must have a passport valid for intended period of stay. A visa is required, except for those with Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). New Zealand citizens are granted a Special Category Visa on arrival.
