Taxi: Taxis are available outside the terminal building. It is recommended to agree on a price before setting off. The journey into Port Louis takes about 45 minutes and costs around MUR1,500. A taxi service desk (+230 5 250 5349) is situated in the Tour Operators Hall section of Arrivals.
Hotel shuttle: Arriving guests can be met by courtesy transport from the respective hotels and resorts, by prior arrangement.
Bus: Bus services (Number 9, 10 and 198) between Mauritius Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Mahebourg, Rivière des Gallets and Port Louis run every 10-20 minutes throughout the day, taking around 60-105 minutes, with a fare of MUR30. However, these buses are often impractical for travellers with luggage.
The bus stop is situated in the airport’s car park area.
International car hire companies represented at the airport include Avis, Budget, Dollar, Europcar, First, Hertz and Sixt, as well as a few local operators. Car rental counters are situated in the Tour Operators' Hall in Arrivals.
Money: There are ATMs outside the arrivals hall. Currency exchange services are available in the pre-security departure area and in the arrivals area. There are bank offices in both Arrivals and Departures. VAT refunds are available for eligible departing visitors.
Food: There are several places to eat and drink at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, including in both the arrivals and departures area.
Shopping: Duty-free shops are available in both departures and arrivals area. These offer a wide range of products including spirits, perfumes, tobacco and chocolates.
There are also a selection of gift shops selling local products including clothes, accessories, local spices and crafts, as well as newsagents selling books, magazines, cigarettes and basic pharmaceutical products.
There is also a flower shop (international check-in hall), a bookstore (international departure), and luxury stores (international departures).
Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Mauritius Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (free for the first 3 hours). Mobile charging stations are located throughout the terminal.
A post office is located outside Arrivals and is open every day except Sunday. Post boxes are available on level 1. Pay phones are available by the Tour Operators Parking.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport has accessible toilets and parking spaces reserved for disabled travellers. Passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.
A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay as well as a ticket for return or onward travel. Australian citizens do not need a visa for a stay of up to six months.
The easiest way to get around Mauritius is to hire a car or take a bus tour. One major highway runs north to south and a good network of paved, if sometimes narrow, roads cover the entire island.

In general the roads are well maintained, but be wary of potholes and Mauritian drivers, who tend to have little consideration for each other, let alone for two-wheeled traffic.
